Where Kids Mind Their Own Business

Mini-Society® Entrepreneurial Summer Camp

A means to advance education through entrepreneurial skills opportunities which supplement regular academic curriculum (specifically VA SOL's), Mini-Society® Summer Camp also provides an unintended benefit of a week of day care, an attractive feature for working parents. The week-long summer camp curriculum, developed by Marilyn Kourilsky, PhD and supported by the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE), teaches entrepreneurship, economics, and citizenship concepts to participants. Each camp is limited to 15 children, recommended ages of eight to twelve, to facilitate the fun of experiential learning.

Since 2004, when three camps were first held at Lynchburg College and in Bedford City, hundreds of children have enjoyed the challenges of planning for and opening their own businesses. Many campers have returned summer after summer, each time enjoying an unique experience with other creative and business-minded children interested in exploring entrepreneurial skills.

Camps held at Lynchburg College are made possible by a collaborative working relationship between blue KIWI™ and the Center for Economic Education at Lynchburg College.

Thanks to individual and business donations, tuition assistance is available for those demonstrating financial need. Please call 434.525.7899 for further detail.
